Paleo and Whole 30 Beverage Ideas

My mom is reading more and more into the Paleo diet. She texted me the other morning and asked for ideas on what she can drink besides water. I can’t tell you how much I love, love, love when my friends and family ask me questions about making healthier lifestyle choices. That is the exact reason that I started this blog.

I sent her a few ideas, but wanted to share them here, too!

La Croix Sparkling Water

My absolute favorite! La Croix sparkling water comes in a variety of flavors. My go-to are Apricot, Cran-Raspberry and the traditional Lime and Lemon flavors. It’s definitely an acquired taste, especially if you are used to drinking super sweet sodas. This could be a good gateway, though, to ween yourself off of soda and get your carbonation fix. La Croix is available nearly everywhere these days.

Sprindrift Sparkling Water

Spindrift is another sparkling water brand that I’m loving. Even if you don’t like sparkling water, I suggest giving this one a try. It has a bit of fruit juice added, so it had a stronger flavor than traditional sparkling water. I’ve found it at Target and Trader Joe’s.

Teavana Iced Peach Green Tea

The only place that I have been able to find these pitcher brew packs (for a reasonable price) is right at Starbucks. However, this is not to be confused with Starbucks Iced Peach Green tea that you would order at the counter – that is green tea sweetened with peach syrup, which is loaded with junk. Buy the brew packs and brew it at home – I promise you it tastes nearly identical without all the crap. Plus if you have an electric tea kettle, making it is super easy. I brew mine right in a glass pitcher like this one. The whole pitcher will keep in the fridge for about a week. This tea does have a bit of caffeine, so avoid it late in the afternoon.

Tazo Iced Passion Tea

This tea is the perfect afternoon or evening sip (no caffeine!), especially if you have a bit of a sweet tooth. I also like recommending it to people who don’t normally like or drink tea regularly because it has such great flavor on it’s own without needing to add in any additional sweetness. I buy these pitcher brew packs to make it at home, but you can also order it at Starbucks: [insert size] Iced Unsweetened Passion Tea. Just do not (especially if you are doing Whole 30) buy the cartons of the pre-made tea that you can find at stores like Target; the pre-made tea is sweetened with cane sugar. The brew packs are super easy to brew at home using an electric kettle and then storing in the fridge in a nice glass pitcher for up to a week.

I know the original question here was “What can I drink besides water,” but I don’t want anyone to discount the importance of drinking water. I keep a bottle with me at all times (I love Swell but this is a more cost effective option) to sip on in addition to my other recommendations in this post.
